Pilot Radio now in OPERATION!
Jam Communications has setup and provided a private UHF channel specifically for the use of pilots and truck drivers that are involved in the movement of over dimensional loads around Australia.
This private channel enables registered pilots and truck drivers to have quiet communications free from citizen band/general public traffic - when we need it most. Examples of circumstances where this is required can be seen/heard in major cities where there is a large amount of radio traffic on free CB channels, or out on the open road where people can hear our conversations from 20 to 30 km’s away. Having a quiet, registered private channel enables us as pilots and truck drivers to get on with getting the job done safely, free from the idle and sometimes moronic dialogue contained within the free channels.
To enable use of the pilot channel, a new radio is required and is supplied only by JAM Communications. These are a specific type of radio especially programmed for the Pilot channel that also uses features such as scrambler and radio ID to eliminate the likes of 'Gordon the radio nerd' programming up his own device and attempting to transmit on this channel or eavesdroppers on scanners. A six digit identification number is assigned to your radio which identifies you when transmitting on this channel - this is also another way to weed out undesireable communications, but mostly to identify you to other pilots within range. The normal 40 CB UHF channels will also be programmed, along with any other channels you may have rights to on request (proof of usage rights will be required to enable programming of additional channels).
No yearly fee is required for the use of this channel - Just purchase your radio from JAM Communications and away you go!
